The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) is Revolutionizing Truck

Parking Accuracy with AI by leveraging the Omnisight Fusion Sensor

Santa FE, NM- The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) proudly announces a major

technological upgrade in its truck parking management system. To enhance accuracy and efficiency,

the (NMDOT) has replaced its existing detection technology with a newly developed AI powered

Omnisight Fusion Sensor technology. This transition marks a significant improvement, boosting

accuracy levels of detected vehicles to over 98%.

The introduction of the Omnisight Fusion Sensor is set to revolutionize truck parking operations within

the state of New Mexico. This advanced technology harnesses the power of fusion at the Edge combining

the benefits of both radar-based detection and video-based detection. This enables precise monitoring

and management of available parking spaces for commercial vehicles. By implementing the Omnisight

Fusion Sensor, the New Mexico DOT aims to streamline the parking experience for truck drivers. With

more accurate data being provided to the public about real time parking availability, the New Mexico

DOT aims to reduce congestion and improve safety in and around rest area facilities.

The NMDOT recognized the need for an advanced solution to publish real time parking availability on

roadside signs to help truck drivers easily find available parking. Providing accurate data is paramount

in the successful implementation of such a system, because without accuracy drivers can find

themselves at parking facilities with nowhere to park. Using these new AI enabled sensors is a

testament to the commitment of the New Mexico DOT to continually innovate and provide the best

services for truck drivers and the transportation industry.

The Omnisight Fusion Sensor uses AI to fuse data from advanced radar technology with HD video to

detect and classify the presence and availability of vehicles and pedestrians, enabling the DOT to

provide real-time data to drivers and DOT officials. The radar-based detection system ensures optimal

accuracy, even in challenging weather conditions, including rain, snow, or fog. With its robust

capabilities, the Omnisight Fusion Senor offers unparalleled reliability and efficiency in managing truck

parking throughout New Mexico.

"We are thrilled to select and integrate the Omnisight Fusion Sensor as the logical evolution in our truck parking management system," stated Charles Remkes, Chief of ITS Operations, spokesperson for the New Mexico Department of Transportation. "This technology brings a new era of accuracy and effectiveness to our operations, benefiting truck drivers, improving traffic flow, and elevating the

overall transportation experience. We believe this upgrade will significantly enhance efficiency and contribute to the continued growth of New Mexico’s transportation infrastructure."
